What did you see and learn about Pope Francis during his visit to the United States this past week? What messages did he share with the American people and our elected leaders in Washington? Which of his messages do you most want your fellow Americans to hear?
Pope Francis visited Washington D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia. He visited with President Obama and addressed Congress. He visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York City, Madison Square Garden, Fifth Avenue, and Central Park, addressed the United Nations, met with families of 9/11 victims and schoolchildren in Haarlem and gave mass at St Peter and Paul's Cathedral. In Philadelphia he visited Independence Hall and addressed a crowd of Latino Immigrants on the Independence Mall. He traveled in his Fiat, and spoke in English, and Latin, and Spanish...
He spoke about religious freedom, tolerance, immigration, global warming, and globalization, and challenged people to do more with the gifts they've been given in this life to help others.
He comes as the leader of the Catholic Church with 1.2 billion believers around the globe, and he also comes as a head of state as leader of the Vatican.
How about his visit?
This discussion will run through Sunday, October 4th.
